Community Library

Elgin Library Header

The Elgin Community Library was opened in the mid-1980s, and was originally located in the unused city jail. It moved to a room in the municipal building (which also housed the police, fire and ambulance departments), and then to a corner of City Hall. After the realization that many residents did not know of the library's existence, it moved to 8171 State Highway 17, immediately west of City Hall, and now that the Library has grown even more it has moved to a bigger building located at 108 Thoma Drive.
